Once in a while, I feel like maybe being so blunt about the name of this blog isn’t helpful. After all, starting off with calling someone a fucking douchebag right in the title of it doesn’t exactly qualify as an olive branch. But then a day like today comes along and I stop feeling bad about it and wonder whether there are more colorful adjectives I could come up with.
New and strangely-titled game blog GameTwat has an exclusive interview with Old Man Jack up on their site today. It’s positively rife with so many examples of behavior that makes him truly despicable.
Name-calling (on GamePolitics): “GP really ought to stand for Godless Pissants”
Hypocrisy (on GP readers): “They care almost nothing about anything other than themselves and their petty concerns.”
General douchebaggery: “Welcome to A Clockwork Orange world, thanks to Sony, Nintendo, and the anti-Christ, Bill Gates”
Legal threats: “GamePolitics will be in court by then, so I shan’t bother them with the news”
For your convenience, I have extracted the various names that he calls people in the interview:
e-tard
lemming-like gamer robots
an industry lapdog
a tool of the industry
sycophantic readers
total moron
right at the amoeba brain level of intelligence
industry tools
twit
Godless Pissants
GamePolitics moron
anti-Christ
And now one last one: fucking douchebag. That one’s from me to you, Jack. I don’t feel bad about it anymore. Check out the full interview at GameTwat.

Ahh, now that’s more like it. After the previous thing I posted about Jack, I was starting to wonder if he’d gone soft. Well, leave it to the blessed internet to reassure me. Jack’s full-tilt douchebaggery (not to mention a bit o’ the crazy) was in full bloom during an interview he did with pop culture site PopZart. I especially like the part where he pretends that all his reasonable solutions are completely ignored. Well I’m sure if he would stop running off at the mouth like a glorified message board troll, people might actually be interested in listening to him.

In a response that I likely could have written for Jack based on his previous outbursts, Jack tells us that he agrees with the UK’s decision to effectively ban Rockstar Games’ Manhunt 2 by refusing to give it a rating. No surprise there. What is surprising is the fact that Jack must have been taking his meds when he wrote it because it’s (mostly) free of spitting, hissing vitriol that typically accompanies his word-vomit.
As much as I dislike the man, much of what he says is factual. I don’t agree with him that the U.S. needs to follow the lead of the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand by creating a government body to decide what games can and cannot be sold in the U.S. (and presumably other media, which is true of the BBFC). I don’t agree that we need more laws to enforce. And I don’t agree that an Adults Only rating by the ESRB should effectively act as a ban because Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo refuse to allow AO-rated games to play on their systems. All that said, those are simply philosophical disagreements. At least I don’t find myself wishing the man harm because he’s exploiting another grieving family for the purposes of political and personal gain, which may not be true in a few days when he decides to weigh in on the most recent tragedy that’s going to be blamed on video games.
He’s still a douchebag.

Jack Thompson Profiled in Rolling Stone
Jack likes Frank Zappa? Something tells me Frank would want to kick Jack square in the balls. I can’t find a link to the actual article, but as soon as someone decides to piss off Rolling Stone and transcribe the whole thing in their blog or something, I’ll post it.
